Clear Lake Performances June 25, 2022

The Houston Tidelanders Chorus were excited to be able to host our Share a Good Time for the Clear Lake area. The Good Time Show has been a traditional and performance stable for a very long time.

It wasn’t just a “Good Time”, it was a great time! The crowds at our two shows did not disappoint! We saw many toes tapping, people singing along, and even received two standing ovations.

Our performances included our Very Large Quartet “The Tide Pool”, S.L.E.D Quartet, Ringside, and Lakeside. In addition to the Tidelanders, the Men’s (TTBB) High School Quartet Tag Contest competition winner UmbraFour from Shadow Creek got on stage and entertained all of us. It was clear that the members of UmbraFour had spent the time necessary to put on a great performance.

A distinction of this show is that the Houston Tidelanders act as the table’s waiters. At the Clear Lake “Share a Good Time” shows, we served water, tea, beer and sodas with tamales and popcorn.

These cabaret style show features our family friendly a cappella barbershop repertoire but using family style table. Meaning, guests get to sit and visit with each other. In fact, this seating arrangement encourages friends, family, and strangers to enjoy the entertainment together.

Membership Chair and St. Paul the Apostle Church parishioner Pete Hasbrook said, “the Clear Lake Good Time shows are some of our favorite performances of the entire year. The Clear Lake area has been good to us over the last 35 or so years. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to perform for parishioners of St. Paul”.

The shows were so successful that we are already in discussions with St. Paul’s to produce our Good Time Show there again next year.

Both of our shows went well and we performed our set better than we have all year. It was awesome to get two standing ovations. Many of us in the Chorus also had the opportunity to see and hear the Quartets perform. It was easy to see why our patrons enjoy our Quartets performances.

We had about 250 patrons in attendance between both shows. The crowd was very interactive and engaged during the entire show – that was awesome to witness!

Who Sang the Song Smile

“Smile” continues to be considered timeless. Meaning the message always seems to be relevant. As long as it continues to be popular, artists will continue to cover and interpret it’s meaning in order to continue to have it resonate with audiences. Modern artists like Michael Jackson have arranged and performed it.
