Houston National Veterans Cemetery May 30, 2022

The Houston Tidelanders Chorus were asked to perform on Memorial Day this year.  We were honored to perform for those that chose to come out to show their respect during this somber holiday.

We were honored to support U.S. Military personnel and their families. These amazing people have sacrificed so much while their loved ones have served the United States in the armed forces.

We, the Houston Tidelanders, were proud to represent the American people and performed a subset of our normal performance routine for the crowd.

Not only do we support patriotic events but we even have veterans that sing in the Tidelanders! During the performance of our barbershop version of the US Armed Forces Medley, we always recognize those that have served our country. We recognize that many of the freedoms that we as Americans enjoy are due to the sacrifices of the Military. Thank you for your service!

The Armed Forces Medley is an a cappella barbershop musical composition in the barbershop style. Each branch of the US Military is represented in the medley. The specific songs in performance order are:

  1. “Marine Corps Hymn”; US Marine Corps
  2. “Anchors Aweigh”; US Navy
  3. “Semper Paratus”; US Coast Guard
  4. “The Army Goes Rolling Along”; US Army
  5. “The US Air Force Song”; US Air Force

Please note that this version of the Armed Forces Medley does not include a Space Force Anthem.

If you’re interested in hearing various proposed Space Force Anthems here a few. You can hear a version as written, arranged, and performed by Voices of Freedom Music, here. Here is a Space Force March song based on John Philip Sousa’s “The Invincible Eagle“. Here’s another version of the same March.

Who Sang the Song Smile

“Smile” continues to be considered timeless. Meaning the message always seems to be relevant. As long as it continues to be popular, artists will continue to cover and interpret it’s meaning in order to continue to have it resonate with audiences. Modern artists like Michael Jackson have arranged and performed it.
