The Tidelanders are an a cappella ensemble based out of Houston, Texas. We specialize in the barbershop genre of music. Our sound is characterized by melodic overtones, ringing chords, and close harmonies. Our chorus has performed in the Houston metropolitan area for over 75 years.
Our Musical Director, Patrick MacAlexander, has 22 years of barbershop experience. That includes singing, directing, and arranging music. Patrick’s talents help us provide our guests with an entertaining barbershop music show.
The Houston Tidelanders perform music from a wide range of genres. We perform Broadway show tunes, rock & roll, patriotic, pop, religious songs, barbershop classics, and originals.

This performance is on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. The Tidelanders will take the stage at 2:00 pm; the doors will open at 1:30 pm.
Ticket prices will be $20 for advance purchase and $25 the day of and at the door.
The Tidelanders are an all male chorus that performs show tunes, hits, love songs, and Christmas favorites.
We have sung patriotic songs to open up at several of the Heroes At Home Golf Tournaments supporting the Green Beret Foundation and the U.S. Army Special Forces families. We opened up the 6th year of this event on October 16th, 2023.
We produce and perform in annual Christmas shows. For 2023, we have two Christmas shows scheduled to be open to the public: Fishers of Men Lutheran Church on December 2 and Windwood Presbyterian Church on December 16. We will participate in the Needville H.S. Choir Performance on December 11. This event is open to residents in the Needville area.
We have won our District Championship 19 times and placed in the top 10 in International Competition 9 times. We are proud to carry the Houston name across the Barbershop Harmony Society.
We perform a variety of our full repertoire that includes show tunes, patriotic, recent hits, love songs, and more. Our evening shows include food and drinks! We are planning a Clear Lake GTS for April 13, 2024, with a Saturday Matinee and a Saturday evening show.
We support the musical arts in the Houston area. In 2023, we are scheduled to participate in three events: Dulles H.S. on November 7, Ridge Point H.S. on November 8, and Stephen F. Austin H.S. on November 16. We present an annual High School Barbershop (a cappella) Quartet Tag Contest. In 2024 that contest is open to the 9 counties of the Houston area.
