We rehearse for 3 hours every Monday evening at ChristChurch.
No, we provide guest books and learning audio tracks to help our singers learn our music repertoire.
No, but you should dress comfortably (ie, wear comfortable shoes). We stand on the risers for the majority of our rehearsals.
It depends. These days usually anywhere from 25-35 but we’re continuing to recruit and add new singers to our roster..
There are no costs to visit a rehearsal and sing with us.
When joining the Tidelanders, each member pays dues to the Tidelanders and the Barbershop Harmony Society. After that we pay for some of our costumes including a tuxedo (coat, pants, tux shoes and tux shirt) and khaki slacks. We pay for travel once or twice a year to our conventions and contests, including transportation, convention registration, hotel, and food. We provide more information after you’ve visited at least once. If you think these costs may be a barrier, please talk with us before you decide to not come back.
We perform 10-15 times a year. Examples include Singing Valentines, ticketed shows and paid performances around the Houston region, chorus competitions at DFW and maybe at the next national level, goodwill performances for Memorial Day and a golf tournament, joint concerts with school choir programs, and several holiday season performances. Performing for the public is one of the best things about being a Tidelander!
