Do you currently sing in a church choir, a band, solo, or have sung in the past? If the answer to that is an emphatic “yes”, we’re extending a special invitation to you. The Houston Tidelanders Chorus is having a Guest Night!
Take this opportunity to learn a new song as well as some “Polecats”. You may be asking: “what exactly is a Polecat”? They are short parts from the end of songs also known as “tags”. Some barbershop songs have one, more than one, or none.
First things first, we’ll run through some introductions and talk about our plans for the evening. Next, you’ll get to hear how you sound singing with other men. We will help with pitch and explain some specific nuances associated with our style of a cappella music. Lastly, you’ll interact with and maybe get to know a few of our Member. You’ll also have the opportunity to mingle with the other guests. Snacks will be provided.
We are a well stablished and long running Barbershop a cappella chorus, founded in 1946. We are located in Houston, Texas in the Bellaire area. Guests are welcome at any and every one of our Monday rehearsals. That being said, our next special Guest Night event is scheduled for May 12, 2025.

About Us
The Tidelanders are a chorus that performs show tunes, hits, love songs, and Christmas favorites
We have sung patriotic songs to open up the last few Heroes At Home Golf Tournament supporting the Green Beret Foundation and the U.S. Army Special Forces families. We opened up the 6th year of this event on October 21, 2024.
For several years we have presented a concert for the benefit of Fort Bend Family Promise. Tickets for our will be available for purchase soon.
We perform a variety of our full repertoire that includes show tunes, patriotic, recent hits, love songs, and more. Our afternoon shows include popcorn and sodas and our evening shows include chips and salsa, tamales, sodas, and beer!
We produce and perform in annual Christmas shows. For 2024, we had two Christmas shows open to the public. One was in Southwest Houston and the other in Northwest Houston.
We performed and sang with the Needville H.S. Choir on December 16th, 2024.
We have won our District Championship 19 times and placed in the top 10 in International Competition 9 times.
The Tidelanders support music programs throughout the Greater Houston Area. In 2024, we supported the young men of FBISD at two events: Fort Bend ISD Men’s Festival: Crockett Middle School, and Fort Bend ISD Men’s Festival: Austin High School.
We also sponsor a High School A Cappella Tag Singing Contest.
