The Southwestern District (SWD) of the Barbershop Harmony society (BHS) has announced a Spring Southwestern District Convention to be hosted in San Antonio, TX May 6-7, 2022. The SWD promotes the hobby of barbershop singing in 4 part close harmonies. The District does this by providing opportunities for barbershoppers to socialize, sing, and get educated on various aspects of barbershop singing.
The Houston Tidelanders will be attending the Spring Southwestern District Convention so that we can compete in the Chorus Competition. If you’d like to see a sample of our performances, you can see them on our Facebook page.

The Houston Tidelanders perform in Houston and the surrounding area throughout the year. We sponsor a Good Time Show as well as a Christmas show annually. Our organization has performed for the benefit of the Heroes at Home at charity golf event and have performed for the benefit of Fort Bend Family Promise. We have also participated in youth events including Fort Bend ISD Men’s Fest and the annual Needville ISD’s High School Choral Christmas concert.
The Southwestern District sponsors a Fall and Spring Convention that includes a Chorus and Quartet competition. The SWD is part of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
The Tidelanders are an all male chorus that perform show tunes, hits, love songs, and Christmas favorites.
We have opened up the last few Heroes At Home Golf Tournaments.
December 2021 we hosted two shows that were open to the public at JWUMC and St. Matthew’s.
We have won our District Championship 19 times and placed in the top 10 in International Competition 9 times.
We perform selected show tunes, patriotic, recent hits, love songs, and more at our GTS performances. Evening shows include food and drinks! Join us in 2022 at our Saturday Matinee or Saturday Evening shows.
We support the musical arts, especially where singing is concerned. In 2021, we participated in the Fort Bend ISD Men’s Festival.
Next February don’t forget to play cupid yourself and hire the Tidelanders to sing love songs to your loved one for you.
