🎶 Discover the Joy of “Harmony”
Are you someone who sings at church, plays in a band, performs solo—or maybe just hasn’t sung in a while but misses it? If any of that sounds like you, consider this your personal invitation to a special evening with the Houston Tidelanders Chorus!
Guest Night is your chance to experience the thrill of singing rich, four-part barbershop harmony. You’ll join a room full of voices, learn a fun new song, and even explore some “tags” (those powerful, ringing snippets from the end of a tune that barbershoppers love to share). Never heard of a “Polecat”? We’ll show you the ropes—and you’ll be singing one in no time.
Here’s what to expect:
- A quick welcome and overview of the evening
- Singing alongside seasoned members of the chorus
- Vocal tips and insights into the barbershop style of a cappella
- A friendly, relaxed environment with other music-lovers like you
- Light refreshments and time to mingle

The Houston Tidelanders have been part of Houston’s musical community since 1946, and we welcome visitors at any Monday rehearsal. On Guest Night, however, you’ll get a little extra attention—and maybe even a few surprises.
We’ll provide all the sheet music you need, and if you decide to continue your journey with us, we offer audio learning tracks, one-on-one vocal coaching, and support from our professional Music Director.

- WEST side of South 3rd Street (the side adjacent to the Sanctuary building where we rehearse),
- NORTH parking lot (next to the West Wing at the corner of S. Rice Ave. and Bellaire Blvd.),
- SOUTH parking lot (behind the church along Linden St.), and
- North side of Linden St. between the entrance to and exit from the SOUTH parking lot

About Us
The Tidelanders are a chorus that performs show tunes, hits, love songs, and Christmas favorites
Community Fund Raisers
We have sung patriotic songs to open up the last few Heroes At Home Golf Tournament supporting the Green Beret Foundation and the U.S. Army Special Forces families. We opened up the 6th year of this event on October 21, 2024.
For several years we have presented a concert for the benefit of Fort Bend Family Promise. Tickets for our will be available for purchase soon.
Good Times Show
We perform a variety of our full repertoire that includes show tunes, patriotic, recent hits, love songs, and more. Our afternoon shows include popcorn and sodas and our evening shows include chips and salsa, tamales, sodas, and beer!
Christmas Shows
We produce and perform in annual Christmas shows. For 2024, we had two Christmas shows open to the public. One was in Southwest Houston and the other in Northwest Houston.
We performed and sang with the Needville H.S. Choir on December 16th, 2024.
District Competitions
We have won our District Championship 19 times and placed in the top 10 in International Competition 9 times.
Next Generation Barbershop
The Tidelanders support music programs throughout the Greater Houston Area. In 2024, we supported the young men of FBISD at two events: Fort Bend ISD Men’s Festival: Crockett Middle School, and Fort Bend ISD Men’s Festival: Austin High School.
We also sponsor a High School A Cappella Tag Singing Contest.
